I N S P I R A T I O N
A magazine that has influenced me in many ways not only in my final major project but in many decisions I have made along the way is Dazed & Confused. I feel my overall outcome can see the fact i'm so inspired by this magazine and the wonderful photographer Rankin. with shelves covered in the magazines and images scattered around my room, I feel it is important for this to be included in my reflective journal as they have influenced my style, photography and inspired me overall in how I work.

What a great way to end a project..

What have I taken from this project?
Undertaking this project has made me so much more aware of risks, and experimentation. At first I felt like if something didn't work I would be unable to do anything about it, however now I feel I have progressed and actually feel that experimenting is important to trial and error products and if it goes wrong the worst is I have to re-shoot. I also feel my confidence has greatly improved, partly from independent working as you have to push yourself into situations and everyones projects are so different its hard to be at the same stage as others. I feel this has had a positive impact upon myself.
Although I chose not to go down the route of jewellery making in the end I do feel contacting professionals and taking that leap into the professional world has helped me gain an insight into the industry. The outcome of my project changed dramatically however the thoughts behind my project didn't. When writing my proposal statement I wanted to create an outcome that involved an innovative design and looked at adorning the face, so even when my project took a different route the purpose of my project was still the same, I wanted to be innovative, creative and unique with my final outcome and I feel I have achieved this.
Working to a university deadline is something I am now used to, however this project involved working to many deadlines, this was a great challenge for me and was something new. I needed to have all my shoots completed and re-touched by a certain time, I also needed to order a test print and receive it giving myself enough to make changes and order the final print which also needed to arrive in enough time to make alterations if desperately needed, looking back on this as a whole it has bee hard work to reach so many different deadlines, however despite some setbacks and some difficulty reaching decisions I managed to reach all deadlines and receive an outcome I am really pleased with and feel positive about handing in.
I have been updating my reflective journal on a regular basis and I hopefully have covered everything needed. Writing reflectively has been difficult without just writing what has happened but with regular updates and covering every step of my final major project journey I feel my reflective journal does document accurately the steps I have taken.
I feel this project has been a great stepping stone before heading out into the real world and has really been beneficial to my confidence and skills. As well as this meeting with industry professionals has helped me to network.

O V E R A L L
The final stretch is here. My book is here, I am currently writing my evaluation and the deadline is not far away now. I feel prepared and don't feel i'm rushing around last minute to get everything finished. I am finding my evaluation hard to write as its hard to reflect on all the important details without forgetting something or skipping a detail.
Overall I feel really positive about my final book and outcome. Considering how lost I felt at the beginning of the project I feel like I managed to pull it back and create a book to a good standard. With a lot of hard work and determination my project has developed into a strong concept that challenges the boundaries of the face and body.
I have taken on board all the feedback, be it positive or negative, and used this to further the outcome and use the opinions of others to help make decisions. Something that I feel has played a vital part in the production of my book is the continuity throughout the images with an icy blue tone throughout. This was some advice given to me at the start of the project so although all the images challenge such different parts of the face and body in such different ways they still come together collectively to create a collection of images with an innovative theme.

My previous schedule was completely different to my schedule I undertook, this being mainly my change in project but also my time management. Please click on the schedule to enlarge and see it clearly.

My time management is the main issue that changed from my old production schedule. The revised production schedule pushes all my shoots into a shorter space of time, this was stressful and did prove difficult but the overall result of my images are of a high quality and I don't feel like the time in which I completed the shoots effected the overall quality and images.

Now I have completely finished spending money for this project I can revise my budget and compare it to my original budget. I have previously done so already but I hadn't taken printing into account.
To the left you can see my old budget I didn't need a budget in the end for models or travel.
My revised budget now is more practical, and is a lot lower than originally estimated.
Please see below for my revised budget:

The final print has arrived and in plenty of time before the deadline. The book photographed below is the book I will be handing in, the front cover is different to my test print this is because i took on board the feedback I recieved about my previous front cover. However I do still feel it works well as a front cover and have printed another book with the textured foil front cover, all feedback from peers and others has been positive about the textured foil cover and didn't warm to the idea of changing it however now that has been done feedback for this cover is also positive, this gave me the idea that if I was to publish a number of books all covers would have one of the 12 images on and would vary per book.
I am so pleased with the font I have used, I really feel it fits well with the overall look of the book. All the images have printed well.
I ordered a light organic hardback book, I thought this was a nice touch to the final product and kept the book light and clean.
I have made the images bigger so it fills more of the page in comparison to my test print, I feel this has worked really well because before the image wasn't evenly placed on the page where as now it stretches across the whole page with white space at the top and at the bottom, looking even and professional.

After taking into account the feedback I received in relation to the pieces of text I have now altered them to be a short sentence describing how the skin is effected or what has happened. My book is now ready to be sent to print, here are some screen shots of my blurb in the Booksmart preview mode from Blub.com.
My book consists of 52 pages, 12 final images and 2 thumbnails featured before unveiling the final image. The reason for the thumbnails is to create intrigue and to show close ups of the skin adorned. I feel this has really worked well and finishes off the book well. I am ordering two copies and have left myself enough time to print both before the deadline also leaving me enough time in case anything goes wrong. For both books and postage the cost is £93 in this price also includes the £6 i paid to take away the Blurb logo which was on the front and back pages of my book, I think without this the book looks more professional. Now to sit tight and wait for my book to arrive.

Here are some more inspirational images I have found throughout my research. If I was to further this project I would begin by experimenting further creating a larger range of images adorning all different parts of the face and body with even more materials. I feel my project is limitless and will always have the opportunity to be further developed.

Today I had a tutorial, this didn't go how I expected as last week when I showed my work the feedback was really positive, this week there were a few things pointed out. The main point Jennifer made was the short pieces of text that went alongside each image was opinion and not factual. there was one piece of text that I was told works this was:
This one works because it talks about how the skin is effected and what the material used has caused the skin to do. Although at first I felt like it was taking a step back as I thought I was nearly ready to print I do agree with what was said about the text and will be looking to change them to more of a short statement than a creative blurb.
